The Cambridge University Elections provisional results for the CUSU Elections are as follows.

CUSU President 2016-17

There were 4 candidates (including Re-Open Nominations), and 1 position available. 4,719 ballots were cast.

In the first round of voting:

• Keir MURISON 900
• Jack DRURY 1,434
• Daisy EYRE  2,253
• Re-Open Nominations (RON)     132

The initial quota was 2359.50. No candidates had surplus votes at the end of the first round of voting, so Keir Murison and RON were eliminated and their votes transferred for the next round.

In the second round of voting:

• Jack DRURY gained 205 additional votes, bring the total for this candidate to 1,639
• Daisy EYRE  gained 493 additional votes, bring the total for this candidate to 2,746
• 334 votes were non-transferable.

The quota for election in Round Two was 2192.50. Candidate Daisy EYRE  reached the threshold and was provisionally elected.

The initial quota was 1,661.50. Candidate Micha FRAZER-CARROLL reached the threshold and was provisionally elected.

There were 2 candidates (including Re-Open Nominations), and 1 position available. 1,169 ballots were cast.

In the first round of voting:

The initial quota was 177.50. Candidate Florence OULDS  reached the threshold and is provisionally elected.

University Councillor 2016-17

There were 4 candidates (including Re-Open Nominations), and 1 position available. 2,687 ballots were cast.

In the first round of voting:

• Re-Open Nominations (RON)     376

The initial quota was 1,343.50. No candidates had surplus votes at the end of the first round of voting, so Re-Open Nominations and Marcel LLAVERO PASQUINA were eliminated and their votes transferred for the next round.

In the second round of voting:

• Joshua JACKSON  gained 175 additional votes, bring the total for this candidate to 1,111.
• Umang KHANDELWAL gained 260 additional votes, bring the total for this candidate to 1,170
• 406 votes were non-transferable.

The quota for election in Round Two was 1,140.50. Candidate Umang KHANDELWAL reached the threshold and is provisionally elected.

Referendum result: Do you approve the proposed changes to CUSU’s Constitution and Standing Orders?

There were 22,169 eligible voters in this referendum of CUSU’s Membership. For a positive resolution, Members were required to vote in favour of the motion by a simple majority of those voting and those voting in favour of the motion had to equal at least 10% of the turnout for the election. The quota for passing the referendum was 2,217 votes in favour of the motion, provided those voting in favour satisfied a simple majority.

3,079 votes were received.

• 2,634 votes supported the motion representing 85.55% of those voting.
• 445 votes did not support the motion, representing 14.45% of those voting.

11.88% of Members voted in favour of the referendum passing meaning the yes-voter threshold of 10% was reached. The referendum was PASSED.

The Elections Committee shall finalise the results in accordance with the Election rules, which requires a period of appeal take place prior to any election result being finalised.
